Before you trade
One answer to “can I take this trade?”, against every limit you set.
Choose Before you trade at the top of any screen. Crux reads every limit you have set and answers in one line: clear, careful, or no — with the reason under it.
What it reads
- Your daily loss limit and target from Settings, and how much of each is left.
- Your risk rules: trades left today, losses in a row, your size cap, your trading hours.
- Every evaluation: room to the floor, room before the firm's daily loss limit, and how big a winning day can be before it breaks the consistency rule.
- This morning's check-in, and what days in that state have cost you before.
- Your playbook rules, listed to read before you click.
What size does it suggest?
Put in what one contract or share would lose if your stop is hit, and Crux divides the tightest room you have by it. If you also type the size you were thinking of, it says plainly when that is more than your room allows.
Each section only appears for a plan that includes it: risk rules and evaluations are Elite, the check-in and playbooks are Edge, and your own daily limit is on every plan.
What do clear, careful and no mean?
- Clear: every limit you have set has room for another trade at your usual size.
- Careful: nothing is broken, but something needs a second look: you are close to your daily loss limit, you have already hit your daily target, this is the last trade your own rule allows, or this morning’s check-in matches days that have cost you before.
- No: a limit is already reached: your daily loss limit, your trade count, a losing streak you set as your stop, your trading hours, your size rule, or an evaluation’s floor or daily loss limit.
The reason is always shown under the answer, so you can see which limit is speaking.
An example of the size it suggests
You have $700 of room before an evaluation’s daily loss limit and $1,400 before your own. The tightest room is $700. You trade MES with a 10-point stop, so one contract would lose $50. Crux suggests up to 14 contracts and says plainly if you were thinking of more. It is the most the tightest limit allows, not a recommendation to trade that size.
Figures in the example are illustrative, to show the arithmetic. Your own come from your account.
How fresh is the answer?
As fresh as your last sync. Trades closed since the last sync, about every 15 minutes, aren’t counted yet; press Sync first if you have just closed a position. Open positions aren’t counted until they close.
What the answers say
Each one comes with its reason in plain words. A careful might read “Close to your daily loss limit: $150 left before the $500 you set.” A no might read “That would be over your trade limit: 4 today, and your rule is 4.” The amounts are illustrative; the wording is how Crux puts it.
