Prop firm rules, explained

Plain-English guides to the rules that end prop firm accounts: daily loss limits, trailing drawdowns and consistency rules. Each one is checked against the firm’s own help centre and dated, with the sums worked through so you can check them yourself.

Which prop firm rule should you watch first?

Whichever line is closest to your balance that day. That is usually the daily loss limit or the maximum loss floor. A daily limit caps one session. The maximum loss floor ends the account when your balance touches it, and at many firms it trails your best balance. A consistency rule usually holds up a pass or a payout rather than ending the account. Each guide works through one firm’s version with the sums shown.
