Terms of Service
Last updated October 1, 2026
- Crux is a trading journal. It only ever reads your trading history — it cannot place, change or cancel a trade.
- Nothing in Crux is financial advice, and Crux is not a broker. Your trading decisions are yours.
- Your trades and notes are yours. You can export them or delete your account at any time.
- Seven days free with no card. If you then buy a plan, you have seven more days to ask for a full refund. A plan renews until you cancel, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Crux is operated by Shoemate Trades LLC, a Missouri limited liability company (“Crux”, “we”, “us”). These terms apply to the website at cruxjournal.com, the web app at app.cruxjournal.com and the Crux desktop app (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. What Crux is — and is not
Crux records and analyses trades you have already made: it imports them from brokers you connect or files you upload, and shows statistics, habits, playbook scoring and prop firm evaluation tracking.
- Not financial advice. Nothing in the Service is investment, financial, tax or trading advice or a recommendation to trade. Figures describe the past and do not predict results.
- Not a broker. Crux does not hold funds, execute trades or give access to any market. Broker connections are read-only, and Crux has no ability to place orders.
- Prop firm tracking is a guide, not the rulebook. Drawdown, profit targets and other evaluation figures are calculated from the trades Crux can see. Your prop firm’s own dashboard is always the authority on whether a rule was met or broken.
3. A product that is still growing
Crux is under active development. Features may change, and like any software it can contain bugs. Please keep your own records of your trading and do not rely on Crux as your only copy. Invite and promo codes are personal to the person they were given to.
4. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
- Give accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us promptly at support@cruxjournal.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- An account is for one person. You are responsible for activity under your account.
5. Connecting brokers
When you connect a broker or trading platform you authorise Crux to read your account and trade history from it on your behalf. You are responsible for making sure that connecting Crux is allowed by your broker’s and prop firm’s terms. You can disconnect a broker in Crux at any time, and revoke Crux’s access from your broker’s own settings. The web app never asks for or stores your broker password. Imported data is only as complete and accurate as what the broker provides — please check anything that matters to you.
6. Plans, the free trial and billing
- Free trial. New accounts get seven days with every feature — or longer with a promo code that says so — without entering a card. When the trial ends you can choose a plan; without one, your trades, calendar and exports stay available and the other features pause.
- Plans. Crux Journal, Edge and Elite are billed monthly or yearly at the prices shown on our website and at checkout.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. Where Stripe acts as the seller of record for your purchase, it also handles sales tax, and its checkout terms apply to the purchase. We never see or store your full card number.
- Renewal and cancelling. Plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Manage billing in the app; cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
- Refunds. If Crux isn’t for you, ask within seven days of your first payment for a plan and we will refund it in full — email support@cruxjournal.com from the address on your account. After that, payments are not refunded for the rest of a billing period; cancelling stops the next renewal instead. Billing mistakes are always refunded, and nothing here limits any refund the law gives you.
- Price changes. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change affects your subscription.
- Codes. Promotion, affiliate and giveaway codes apply only as described when they were issued and cannot be exchanged for cash.
7. Your content
Your trade data, notes, tags, screenshots and playbooks belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to run the Service for you. You can export your trades at any time, and closing your account deletes your journal, as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service unlawfully; attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to it or to other users’ data; scrape or resell it; or share your account or invite codes for payment.
9. Changes and availability
We may add, change or remove features, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable, for example while we update it. If we discontinue the Service we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your data.
10. Disclaimers and limits on liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We are not responsible for trading losses, missed opportunities, prop firm evaluation outcomes or decisions you make using the Service. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Crux and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your home country requires otherwise.
